Privacy Policy

Overview

ReadFasterLabs is a reading comprehension app. We collect only the data necessary to provide the service. We do not sell your data to third parties.

What we collect

• Account information — email address and name from your OAuth provider (Google, GitHub, or Discord) or email/password registration. Used for authentication only.
• Article content — text extracted from web pages you choose to capture via the Chrome extension. Stored to generate quizzes and track your reading sessions.
• Reading session data — time spent reading and words-per-minute calculations for your personal dashboard.
• Quiz responses — your answers and scores, used to determine mastery and display progress.
• Authentication cookies — session tokens stored in your browser to keep you signed in. The Chrome extension reads these to authenticate API requests.

Chrome extension

The ReadFasterLabs Chrome extension extracts article text from web pages you explicitly choose to capture. It does not run in the background on pages you visit. It does not collect browsing history, passwords, personal communications, or any data from pages you do not capture.

The extension reads your authentication cookie solely to verify you are signed in before sending captured content to our servers. It tracks reading session duration (start and end time) to calculate your reading speed.

Third-party services

• OpenAI — article content is sent to the OpenAI API to generate quiz questions. Content is not used by OpenAI for training. See OpenAI's privacy policy.
• Convex — our database provider. All user data is stored on Convex's infrastructure. See Convex's privacy policy.
• Vercel — our hosting provider. See Vercel's privacy policy.

Data retention

Your data is retained for as long as your account is active. You can delete your account at any time from the Settings page. Account deletion has a 30-day grace period, after which all your data (articles, sessions, quiz attempts, and settings) is permanently deleted.

Data security

All data is transmitted over HTTPS. Authentication is handled via secure session cookies. We do not store passwords in plain text.
